Walrus Foundation Gala Photos

Here are some more of our favourite photos from the Walrus Foundation Gala. It was so much fun. We love love love photographing events at the Fermenting Cellar in the Distillery District in Toronto. There is so much that you can do with that venue! It is a great location for both Toronto wedding receptions and events.

The hosts Seamus O’Regan, Shelagh Rogers, Shelly Ambrose, and John Macfarlane kept the guests entertained. They had a live performance by jazz musician Molly Johnson (she’s awesome), and a silent auction to raise money for their publication. The auction theme was ” Secret Message in a Bottle”. Guests got to bid on a message from a wide range of people like Margaret Atwood, Stephen King, Ian Rankin, Don Cherry, Sir Richard Branson,  Douglas Coupland, and Archbishop Desmond Tutu.

The food was great and everyone had an amazing time (including us!). They did such an awesome job with the lighting and decor.

Enjoy!

Niagara Falls

Iram and I celebrated our 10 year anniversary last week. To celebrate we went to Niagara Falls for the weekend. My mom rented us a room in a fabulous hotel as a gift to us. The room was wonderful (you could watch tv from the jacuzzi in the suite). We were on the 39th floor overlooking the falls. Iram is my soul mate and my best friend and he makes me happy every day. We started dating when I was in high school and we were married on our 8 year anniversary! We walked around the strip, ate some double chocolate fudge, hung out at the falls, had an amazing dinner, went to the casino, and spent the evening talking and laughing together. I am now all relaxed and ready for the wedding season to begin!

Here are some of my favourite pictures from our little adventure.

I figured that it would be nice to take a photo of Iram’s wedding ring on our anniversary.

The natural light in our room was beautiful first thing in the morning.

An old rusted boat that we spotted on the way home. I made Iram pull over so that I could grab a few shots of it.

I am going to be posting some more photos from the Walrus Gala tomorrow so please stay tuned. We also just got some new samples albums today! They are beautiful and funky and I am in love with them.

The Fermenting Cellar – The Walrus Gala Preview

Daniela and I had the pleasure of photographing The Walrus Foundation Gala. The event was held in the Fermenting Cellar in the Distillery. It was a luxurious affair with beautiful decor, live music, a silent auction, and great food. Pink Pearl Images photographs events as well as weddings and we had a great time at this one. We met some fabulous people and captured some great images. Here is a sneak peak at some of our favourite photographs from the evening. We’ll get some more up soon.

They imprinted their logo on the wall above the items for their silent auction. I loved how it looked. Imagine having your initials or names on the wall at your wedding.

Daniela found a way to get into a storage area so that she could capture this image of the event from above.

They used a different cover from their magazine for every table setting. This would be a great way to showcase your engagement photos.

These blue lights were found on every wall with the exception of the silent auction area. It gave the space a modern edgy feel.

Some candid photographs of the guests.

Stay tuned for more images from the event!

The Dogs In My Life

Hello everyone!

My dog Arwen celebrated her 8th birthday last week. I like to think that we are soul buddies. :) Once you get to know me it becomes clear that I love animals. We’ve always had dogs in my family, and I can’t remember a time when I didn’t live with a pet or two or three. Currently I have two cats and a dog. Once we move from our condo to a house we will get a canine playmate for Arwen. She loves the cats though. Sometimes they fall asleep in a big pile of cuddles. It’s really sweet.

Arwen is officially middle aged, and I have spent some time this week thinking about her life and her friends. Here are some photos from this past year of Arwen and her various doggy pals. First we have my birthday girl. This photo was our Christmas card this year.

Lexus is Arwen’s best friend and the love of my sister’s life. Lexus had a rough beginning. She was abused as a puppy and my sister rescued her. My sister has a long history of rescuing injured animals, bringing home strays, and fostering. Lexus is eight months older than Arwen and they have been best friends since their first play date. If I even mention Lexus while I’m on the phone with my sister Arwen starts whining and runs to the door.

Here are the partners in crime snoozing on the couch at the cottage. The pair of them were tuckered out after rolling in something disgusting together. They had to have three baths each to get rid of the smell. If one of them is getting into something the other one is right there too. This is my favourite picture of them together (I have thousands). It captures their friendship perfectly.

Next we have Bowie. She’s three years old. My brother adopted her from the humane society when she was a puppy. She was actually one of my sister’s foster dogs and my brother fell in love. She’s high energy, loves to cuddle, is curious about everything, and is one of the most affectionate dogs I have ever met. I have three images to share with you of Bowie. She’s my favourite dog model and loves being a ham for the camera.

Here she is taking a break from playing fetch with my brother.

Basking in the sun on the dock at the cottage…

And at my house last week hanging out with Arwen. That’s Arwen in the background.

This post wouldn’t be complete with out an image of Arwen with my husband. Here they are on our nightly walk together.

Next week I’ll post some images of my ninja kitties, Nims and Nikitta. They are super cute. I promise.
